Gomes was taken off the field on a stretcher while fans from both teams chanted his name in support. The incident led to Kone being sent off, and Lille went on to win the match 2-0.

In an Instagram video posted on Sunday, Gomes reassured fans that he is doing well. “I’m okay, I’m back home. I’ve been looked after and I’m feeling good,” he said. “I want to thank all the medical staff at the club and hospital who took care of me.”

Gomes acknowledged that such collisions are a part of football but emphasized the importance of his recovery. “This crazy collision, these things happen in football. But the most important thing is that I’m okay. We won three points.”

He also expressed gratitude to fans of both clubs for their “overwhelming” support and humorously noted, “P.S. Remind me not to jump for headers anymore,” in the caption of his post.
