Julian Nagelsmann’s Next Move: Decision Imminent as Talks Continue

Julian Nagelsmann’s agent, Volker Struth, has suggested that the highly sought-after coach is nearing a decision on his next career move following the conclusion of the European Championships.

Although Nagelsmann, 36, is contracted to coach the German national team for Euro 2024, clubs are eager to secure his services once the tournament concludes in July. Among the interested parties are Bayern Munich, where Nagelsmann previously coached before his departure last year, and Manchester United, who are assessing their managerial options amid uncertainty surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future.

During an appearance on the Spielmacher podcast, Struth provided insight into the ongoing discussions, hinting at talks with multiple clubs. He stated, “Everyone is asking me the question: is Nagelsmann going back to Bayern or what is he doing? It will be decided soon. In the next five, six or seven days.”

There’s still a possibility that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the owner of Ineos, could dismiss Erik ten Hag

Struth emphasized the normalcy of engaging with various interested parties while keeping the specifics confidential. He added, “Without saying who the interested parties are. I can only say that it’s not just Bayern Munich [we are speaking to]. That’s my job, and it would be a bit of a joke in media to say we’re not in talks. Of course, we are talking now.”

Meanwhile, Bayern Munich’s CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, remained guarded when asked about Nagelsmann’s potential return, simply stating, “We’ll see.”

At Manchester United, where Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe have assumed control. Nagelsmann is among the names under consideration should Ten Hag’s tenure become uncertain. Reports indicate that up to 10 managers, including Gareth Southgate, Graham Potter, and Thomas Tuchel, are being evaluated for the position.

While Nagelsmann’s future remains undecided, his impending decision promises to shape the managerial landscape in European football.
