Enzo Maresca expressed his desire for Jamie Vardy to remain at Leicester for another Premier League campaign following the striker’s instrumental role in securing promotion.
Vardy, the former England international, showcased his enduring goal-scoring prowess on Monday night. Netting twice in Leicester’s 3-0 victory over Preston to seal their return to the top flight as champions. Despite being 37 years old and nearing the end of his contract. Vardy has signaled his intention to continue playing. Prompting Maresca to extend an offer for him to remain with the club next season.
Maresca, the Leicester manager, emphasized Vardy’s intrinsic connection to the club and his unwavering ability to find the back of the net. He stated, “Jamie Vardy is Leicester. Jamie Vardy has always scored goals in his life and he’s going to score goals even when he’s 40, 45. It’s in his blood to score goals. We are very lucky that he’s our player.”
Reflecting on Leicester’s successful campaign, Maresca expressed immense satisfaction with their achievement. Particularly considering their relegation from the Premier League last season. He acknowledged the challenges of the Championship but emphasized the team’s deserving promotion.

Their promotion was secured after second-placed Leeds suffered a defeat to QPR, and Leicester now have the opportunity to finish the season with 100 points in their final match against Blackburn.
Maresca recounted the celebrations that ensued, including impromptu late-night gatherings with players and staff. But stressed the importance of maintaining focus for their upcoming games.
In the match against Preston, Vardy’s goals on either side of halftime, along with Kasey McAteer’s contribution, secured a convincing victory.
Preston manager Ryan Lowe acknowledged Leicester’s superiority and expressed admiration for their accomplishments, despite his team’s lackluster performance.
As Leicester prepares for their return to the Premier League, Vardy’s continued presence promises to be a vital asset for the team’s success.
