Bengaluru FC achieved a decisive 3-1 victory against Kerala Blasters FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) on Friday, marking their fifth win of the season. The match, held in front of an enthusiastic home crowd, was notable for Bengaluru as they conceded their first goal of the campaign but managed to maintain composure and capitalize on their opportunities.
Under the guidance of coach Gerard Zaragoza, Bengaluru FC set the tone early in the match, establishing their dominance within the first 10 minutes. Argentine striker Jorge Pereyra Diaz proved instrumental, showcasing his relentless energy and high-pressing style. In the eighth minute, Diaz intercepted a pass from Kerala’s Pritam Kotal and showcased impressive skill by dribbling past defenders before delicately lobbing the ball over goalkeeper Som Kumar, giving Bengaluru the early lead.
However, the joy for Bengaluru was short-lived as they conceded a penalty just before half time. Defender Rahul Bheke fouled Kwame Peprah inside the box, allowing Jesus Jimenez to convert the penalty flawlessly into the top left corner, leveling the score at 1-1.

In the second half, Kerala Blasters FC sought to capitalize on the momentum with Spanish midfielder Edgar Mendez playing a crucial role. Bengaluru’s Alberto Noguera, known for drawing fouls in key positions, created a chaotic situation in the 74th minute. Mendez, positioned perfectly in the 18-yard box, seized the moment and slotted the ball into the bottom right corner, restoring Bengaluru’s lead.
With a renewed focus on defense, Bengaluru FC aimed to protect their advantage over the final 20 minutes while also remaining dangerous on the counterattack. In the fourth minute of stoppage time, the team executed a swift offensive move, culminating in Mohamed Salah setting up Mendez for a powerful shot from outside the box, securing Bengaluru’s third goal of the night.
This victory solidifies Bengaluru FC’s position in the ISL standings, as they continue to demonstrate resilience and skill in their campaign.
