The Indian men’s football team has made a notable advancement in the latest FIFA world rankings, climbing one spot to 125th position, as announced in the rankings released on Thursday. This improvement comes on the heels of a hard-fought 1-1 draw against Vietnam in an international friendly earlier this month, showcasing the team’s resilience under the guidance of new head coach Manolo Marquez.
Since Marquez took charge, India has yet to secure a victory, registering one loss and two draws. However, their recent performances have earned the team a modest gain of 0.26 points, bringing their total points to 1,133.78. The team’s determination is evident as they strive to adapt to Marquez’s strategies and build momentum for future matches.
In the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) rankings, India has also improved, moving up to 22nd place. This leap places them ahead of Vietnam, which has dropped three positions, reflecting the competitive landscape of Asian football.
Globally, Argentina continues to hold the top spot as the reigning world champions, with a total of 1,883.5 points. They are followed closely by France, Spain, England, and Brazil, who round out the top five. As India seeks to build on its recent performances, the hope is that this upward trajectory will continue in upcoming international fixtures.
