Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) face a challenging start to their French Cup title defense after the draw sent them away to Ligue 1 rivals Lens in the last 64. The draw, made on Monday, sets up an intriguing tie for PSG, who have won the competition a record 15 times.
In another all-top-flight encounter, Marseille will meet Saint-Etienne as both sides enter the competition in the December 20-22 round. Former French champions Bordeaux, who relegated to the fourth tier and filed for bankruptcy over the summer, will face Rennes, now managed by Jorge Sampaoli, the former Argentina national team coach.
In one of the more intriguing matchups, sixth-tier side Union Saint-Jean will face Monaco, who are currently third in Ligue 1. Another lower-league team, Still Mutzig, will host Ligue 1 side Reims.
Two overseas clubs remain in the competition: Saint-Joseph from Martinique will travel to Corsica to face Bastia, while Saint-Denis from Reunion will meet fifth-tier team Dives-Cabourg.
They will hold the French Cup final at the Stade de France on May 24.
