Folarin Balogun, the former Arsenal striker, continues to show support for his old club as they vie for the Premier League title, aiming to secure their first championship since 2004.
Balogun, who joined Arsenal at the age of ten, made only two starts for the first team before making a move to Monaco last summer in a £34 million transfer. The 22-year-old’s impressive loan spell at Stade de Reims the previous season, where he scored 22 goals in 39 games, paved the way for his move. Since joining Monaco, he has recorded eight goals in 25 appearances, contributing significantly to his new club’s campaign as they currently hold the third position in Ligue 1.
Expressing his support for both Arsenal and his new team, Balogun stated, “I give them my support [in the title race]. I still speak with a lot of them, and when I’m in London, we still go out for food. There is a good relationship there.”

Regarding his aspirations to participate in the UEFA Champions League, Balogun acknowledged the invaluable experiences shared by his former Arsenal teammates, highlighting the allure of competing in such a prestigious tournament. He expressed excitement about the prospect of potentially experiencing it with Monaco.
Reflecting on his transfer to Monaco, which narrowly missed surpassing Arsenal’s record sale, Balogun underscored the positive relationship between the clubs, as Arsenal included a clause that could yield additional revenue from any future transfer of Balogun.
Despite the contractual arrangement, Balogun remains wholly focused on finishing the season strongly with Monaco, emphasizing the team’s confidence and respect for every opponent they face.
“We feel relaxed. We feel confident,” Balogun remarked, “We know it is going to be difficult…We know that we have to be at our best to get something out of the season.”
