West Ham are increasingly optimistic about securing a deal for Evan Ferguson from Brighton, while their attempt to sign Ricardo Pepi from PSV Eindhoven has been unsuccessful.
Bayer Leverkusen had been considered frontrunners for Ferguson, but their interest may cool after Al-Nassr opted to sign Jhon Durán from Aston Villa instead of Leverkusen’s Victor Boniface. With Boniface now expected to stay in Germany, Leverkusen’s need for a new forward has diminished, boosting West Ham’s chances.
West Ham Exploring Ferguson Deal Amid Heavy Interest
Brighton have informed West Ham that they are open to either a loan or a permanent transfer for Ferguson. However, competition remains fierce, with Arsenal, Everton, Bournemouth, Tottenham, and Leverkusen all making inquiries about the 20-year-old Republic of Ireland striker.
Clubs have discussed a loan with an option to buy, though a bid in the region of £40 million could secure a permanent deal. Despite struggling with form and injuries over the past 18 months, many still regard Ferguson as one of England’s top young strikers.
West Ham manager Graham Potter, who handed Ferguson his Premier League debut at Brighton, could offer him regular playing time—a key factor in the striker’s next move.
Pepi Offer Rejected, Alternative Targets Identified
West Ham submitted a bid for 22-year-old USA international Ricardo Pepi, proposing a loan with a €25m (£21m) obligation to buy, but PSV rejected the offer. There is uncertainty over whether West Ham will return with an improved bid, as some within the club doubt Pepi’s suitability for Potter’s system.
With Michail Antonio and Niclas Füllkrug both sidelined, West Ham are actively pursuing forward options. Other names on their radar include:
- Brian Brobbey (Ajax)
- André Silva (RB Leipzig)
- Rodrigo Muniz (Fulham)
Beyond their search for attacking reinforcements, West Ham are also monitoring Sunderland midfielder Dan Neil and Brighton defender Adam Webster as they look to strengthen the squad before the transfer window closes.
