Trent Alexander-Arnold’s Cheeky Response to Man Utd Fans Steals the Show

Trent Alexander-Arnold had the final word on Manchester United fans as he left Old Trafford following Liverpool’s dominant 3-0 victory. The right-back, who played a crucial role in the win, didn’t shy away from reminding United supporters of the score, even as they attempted to heckle him.

During the match, Alexander-Arnold thought he had given Liverpool an early lead after converting a cross from Luis Diaz. His celebration, reminiscent of Steven Gerrard’s famous kiss to the camera, was cut short when goal was ruled-out for offside. However, it didn’t take long for Liverpool to assert their dominance, with Diaz scoring twice before halftime and Mohamed Salah adding a third after the break, sealing another humiliating defeat for United.

After the match, a group of United fans gathered outside Old Trafford, waiting for the Liverpool players to emerge. As Alexander-Arnold made his way to the team bus, he was met with boos and jeers. In response, the Liverpool star calmly held up three fingers, a gesture that echoed the scoreline and his earlier interaction with the away fans.

The moment appeared on social media, capturing Salah walking ahead of Alexander-Arnold and turning back to see his teammate’s gesture. The Egyptian forward couldn’t help but grin, sharing a laugh with Alexander-Arnold as they boarded the bus together. Despite the heckling, Alexander-Arnold remained unfazed, relishing his role as a wind-up merchant.

Liverpool’s security staff ensured no further interaction occurred between the players and crowd, keeping latter at a distance behind barriers. Alexander-Arnold, however, seemed to enjoy the moment, confidently locking eyes with United fans as he made his way onto bus.

The afternoon wasn’t entirely perfect for Alexander-Arnold, as Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, substituted him for the third consecutive game. The right-back didn’t look pleased with the decision. And Slot himself showed visible frustration during the match when Alexander-Arnold lost possession after attempting a risky pass.

Sky Sports co-commentator and Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher noted the moment, saying, “That’s an interesting one. I was watching the managers during the last attack, and when Trent Alexander-Arnold tried a flick round the corner with his left foot, Slot turned away in disgust. Those are the things he doesn’t want – he wants you to make the extra pass, not take unnecessary risks. We might start seeing some differences between his Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp’s.”

Despite the minor setback, Alexander-Arnold’s post-match response showed his confidence and his ability to enjoy the rivalry, even in the face of adversity. The victory solidified Liverpool’s strong start under Slot, with the team continuing to show signs of improvement and cohesion.
