Napoli are offering Victor Osimhen to Chelsea as part of their strategy to finally secure Romelu Lukaku. Under new manager Antonio Conte, who previously guided Lukaku to a Serie A title with Inter Milan. Napoli are keen to bring the Belgian striker back to Italy.
Napoli sporting director Giovanni Manna has been in London to discuss a potential move for Lukaku. The Italian club has proposed an initial offer of £26 million, but Chelsea are holding out for £40 million to part with Lukaku. Who was signed for a club-record fee in 2021.
In a bid to bridge the financial gap, Napoli is suggesting a swap deal involving Osimhen, who has a valuation of around £90 million. Despite his high valuation, Napoli are finding it challenging to secure a sale at that price and are open to negotiating a deal that sees Osimhen and Lukaku exchange clubs.
Lukaku, who still has two years left on his Chelsea contract, has spent the last two seasons on loan, first with Inter Milan and then with Roma. The 31-year-old has expressed a strong desire to reunite with Conte, his former manager.
Osimhen, who has attracted interest from PSG and various Saudi Arabian clubs. Scored 26 goals in 32 Serie A games to help Napoli win the league title two seasons ago. Despite signing a new deal with a release clause of around £101 million, Napoli are now considering his sale.
The Nigerian striker has previously indicated an interest in moving to the Premier League. Former Chelsea midfielder John Obi Mikel has advocated for Osimhen’s move to Stamford Bridge. Suggesting he could be the prolific goalscorer Chelsea needs. Mikel, along with Didier Drogba, is reportedly in touch with Osimhen to persuade him to choose Chelsea.
“I believe Victor Osimhen would be a fantastic addition to Chelsea,” Mikel said. “He brings the finishing ability and goal-scoring prowess that we are missing. I’m confident Chelsea fans would welcome him, and I’m doing everything I can to make sure he considers us a top priority.”
Drogba is also working to convince Osimhen by sharing his own experiences and emphasizing what Chelsea means to him. Both Mikel and Drogba are hopeful that their influence will help secure Osimhen’s move to Chelsea.
