Mo Salah Linked with PSG Move Amid Liverpool Contract Stand-Off

Paris Saint-Germain has reportedly set its sights on Mohamed Salah after the Liverpool star revealed that the club has not yet offered him a new contract.

Salah, 32, has just seven months remaining on his current deal, and in a recent statement, he expressed disappointment over Liverpool’s failure to initiate contract talks. The Egyptian forward is one of three key Liverpool players, alongside Trent Alexander-Arnold and captain Virgil van Dijk, who could potentially leave the club on free transfers when their contracts expire in June 2025.

Speaking candidly about the situation, Salah said, “We are almost in December, and I haven’t received any offers yet to stay at the club. I’m probably more out than in. You know I have been in the club for many years. There is no club like this.”

According to French outlet L’Equipe, there is now a ‘good chance’ Salah could make a move to PSG next summer. The report claims that Salah is ‘actively engaging’ in talks about a transfer and has established a strong rapport with PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi.

From January 1, Salah will be able to enter into a pre-contract agreement with a foreign club, meaning PSG could potentially secure his services sooner than expected. However, despite the growing speculation, PSG have denied any direct discussions with the player and have distanced themselves from pursuing high-profile signings since the departures of Lionel Messi, Neymar, and Kylian Mbappe.

PSG had linked with Salah before he signed a three-year contract extension with Liverpool in 2022. Now, with his current contract winding down, the prospect of the forward leaving is looking more likely. The debate surrounding his future at Liverpool centers on whether the club should commit to another lucrative, long-term contract given Salah’s age.

Jamie Carragher, former Liverpool defender, has warned the club against overcommitting financially to keep Salah. He advised Liverpool to maintain their data-driven approach to player contracts, stating, “I’m not saying he shouldn’t get a two-year deal, or that he shouldn’t be on big money – he’s on big money now and rightly so. But this idea of ‘give him what he wants’ – this club is not built on giving people what they want, that’s why there is success at the club.”

With Salah’s future uncertain, all eyes are on whether Liverpool can strike a deal or if PSG will capitalize on the opportunity to bring the prolific forward to Paris.
