Kylian Mbappé’s quest for his first league goal of the season continued as Real Madrid settled for a 1-1 draw against Las Palmas in La Liga on Saturday. Despite being one of Madrid’s most high-profile signings in recent years. Mbappé has yet to find the back of the net in league play this season. His only goal so far with Madrid came during their UEFA Super Cup victory over Atalanta earlier this month.
In a-match that saw Madrid drop more points in their title defense, it was Vinícius Júnior who scored for visitors. Vinícius netted a penalty in the 69th minute after a handball in area, marking his first league goal of season. Madrid had previously beaten Valladolid 3-0 but began their title defense with a 1-1 draw against Mallorca.
Madrid’s coach, Carlo Ancelotti, acknowledged team’s struggles, stating, “It has been difficult to be as solid as we were last-season. We need to find a solution quickly, and I think we will. These first three matches have highlighted several issues that need addressing.”

Las Palmas took an early lead when Alberto Moleiro weaved through Madrid’s defense to score just five-minutes into the match. Despite the draw, Las Palmas remains winless this season, having also drawn against Sevilla and lost to Leganés.
In other La Liga action, Barcelona emerged as the only team with three wins from the opening three rounds following their 2-1 victory over Rayo Vallecano.
Meanwhile, Girona, who impressed last season with a third-place finish, earned their first win of the season with a commanding 4-0 victory over Osasuna at home. Bryan Gil opened the scoring in the first half, with Viktor Tsygankov, Abel Ruiz, and Cristhian Stuani adding to the tally in the second half. Girona had previously drawn and lost their first-two-matches, while Osasuna had one draw and one win from their initial games.
