The Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) showcased their dominance by clinching the top honors in both the boys’ and girls’ categories at the 24th Punjab State Youth (U-17) Basketball Championship. The event concluded on a high note at Guru Nanak Stadium on Friday.
In the boys’ category, LBA emerged victorious, leaving Mansa district and Patiala district to settle for second and third place, respectively. Meanwhile, in the girls’ section, the LBA team secured the title, with Ludhiana district finishing as runners-up and Mansa district taking third place.
The final day of matches saw the LBA boys’ team overpower Patiala district with a commanding 59-32 victory, while Mansa district outplayed Bathinda district, winning 82-64. In the girls’ matches, LBA delivered an impressive performance, routing Mansa district 55-18. Ludhiana district also secured a hard-fought win over Mohali, with a score of 41-37, ensuring their place on the victory podium.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Parminder Singh Heer, a former international basketball player and current Jagraon SP, who presented the awards. Teja Singh Dhaliwal, General Secretary of the Punjab Basketball Association, extended his congratulations to the winners and expressed gratitude to the chief guest and other dignitaries who attended the event.
The organizing committee, including members Sumesh Chadha, Vijay Chopra, Veerpal, Richu Sharma, and Ajay Kumar, along with coaches Rajinder Singh, Saloni, Ravinder, and Sukhwinder Singh, were also present to celebrate the achievements of the young athletes.
The Ludhiana Basketball Academy’s triumph in this prestigious tournament highlights their continued excellence in nurturing young talent and solidifies their status as a powerhouse in Punjab’s basketball scene.
