Despite recent additions to their defense, Manchester United have not abandoned their pursuit of Everton’s Jarrad Branthwaite. The Red Devils have already invested over £100 million in bolstering their backline, with significant signings including Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro. However, United remain intent on acquiring Branthwaite, although they acknowledge that a deal is unlikely before the end of the current transfer window.
Branthwaite, who is still under contract with Everton for three more years, has attracted interest from several top clubs, including Manchester City and Liverpool. Everton’s stance on the player has been clear—they are not willing to sell Branthwaite to Liverpool, which could benefit United’s plans.
Manchester United previously offered up to £50 million for the 22-year-old defender before finalizing their moves for Yoro and De Ligt. Everton’s valuation of Branthwaite stands at approximately £75 million. With Everton manager Sean Dyche indicating that financial considerations may influence future business, United could revisit their interest in Branthwaite if circumstances change.

Dyche has acknowledged the club’s need to balance finances, which could potentially open up opportunities for other clubs. “I’m confident that the club will do its best to ensure we remain competitive,” Dyche stated. “However, the bigger picture is dependent on what money is needed at any given time.”
In the immediate term, Manchester United’s focus is on strengthening their midfield, with Manuel Ugarte emerging as their top target. Negotiations with PSG are ongoing as United seeks to reinforce this crucial area of their squad.
As the transfer window progresses, United may evolve their strategy for securing Branthwaite, but for now, they focus firmly on finalizing their midfield improvements.
