As Lionel Messi approaches the twilight of his illustrious career, the Argentine superstar has achieved every major trophy possible, leaving fans to ponder his next steps after retirement. In a recent conversation with renowned journalist and transfer market expert Fabrizio Romano, the 37-year-old revealed that he has no intentions of becoming a coach and emphasized the importance of cherishing every moment in his remaining playing days.
“I wouldn’t like to be a coach, but I’m still not sure what I’d like to do in the future,” Messi stated. “I value much more than before everything I do on a day-to-day basis, so I just think about playing, training, and having fun.”
Messi also expressed his gratitude for the opportunities he has had throughout his career, saying, “I have been lucky enough to win everything with Barcelona and the national team and to have a wonderful life and family. I am very grateful to God for everything I have been through, and I will let people remember me as they want.”
Since joining Major League Soccer (MLS) side Inter Miami last year, Messi has significantly transformed the fortunes of the club, which previously struggled to make an impact in the league. Alongside notable signings, he helped Miami secure the Leagues Cup in 2023 and the Supporters Shield in the 2024 season.
With Inter Miami now qualified for the MLS Cup playoffs, Messi’s next challenge will be to clinch the Cup, completing a remarkable domestic double in his first full season with the team. As fans eagerly await what’s next for the footballing icon, it’s clear that Messi remains focused on enjoying the final chapters of his playing career.
