Garnacho’s Heartfelt Tribute to Messi After Argentina’s Copa America Triumph

Manchester United starlet Alejandro Garnacho expressed his gratitude towards international captain Lionel Messi after Argentina’s legendary forward secured back-to-back Copa America titles.

Messi played 64 minutes in the final against Colombia at Hard Rock Stadium before an injury forced him off the field. Despite the setback, Argentina triumphed 1-0, leading to an emotional scene on the bench as Messi, in tears, watched his teammates secure the victory.

This marks the third consecutive major tournament victory for Argentina under head coach Lionel Scaloni, as the team continues to build on its historic success. Following the win, Garnacho took to Instagram to honor Messi, writing a heartfelt six-word message: “Thank you for so much captain.”

Garnacho, 20, was an unused substitute in the final and played only 66 minutes throughout the tournament. Nevertheless, he joined many in praising Messi’s contributions to Argentina’s latest triumph.

Messi, an eight-time Ballon d’Or winner, shared his pride and gratitude in an Instagram post, saying: “Copa America is over and the first thing I want to do is thank everyone for the messages and greetings. I’m doing well, thank God, and hopefully soon I can be on the court again enjoying what I love doing most.

“I’m happy, a lot, especially because we achieved the goal we had. The biggest ones, like him, Ota or me, we live it with special excitement, with other teammates who already have several tournaments and add their experience as well, and with a litter of young people who give their all in every ball.”

Messi emphasized the unity and future potential of the team: “We are a team and also a family, a spectacular group. Thanks to everyone who was supporting us, this national team has a lot of present and a lot of future too. Let’s go Argentina.”

Head coach Scaloni praised his players’ efforts, stating: “In the second half I think we improved and deserved to win, and then always in extra time, the team always finds something extra. It’s gratifying to see them play and I’m eternally grateful for the way they give their all.”

Inter Miami confirmed Messi’s ankle injury, stating: “After a medical evaluation, it has been determined that Leo Messi has suffered a ligament injury in his right ankle. Periodic assessments and the progress of his recovery will determine the captain’s availability.”

Despite the injury, Messi’s impact on and off the field remains undeniable, as his leadership continues to inspire his teammates and fans alike.
