Chelsea have finalized an £11.9m agreement to sign 19-year-old central defender Mamadou Sarr from Ligue 1 side Strasbourg, with the move set to take place in the summer transfer window. This deal marks the first permanent transfer between the two clubs under the BlueCo umbrella, owned by Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital.

Sarr, who has made just 14 appearances for Strasbourg since joining from Lyon for £8.5m last summer, will leave his current club with a £3.4m profit. The pre-arranged nature of the transfer ensures Strasbourg can retain their three Chelsea loanees—midfielder Andrey Santos, left-back Caleb Wiley, and goalkeeper Djordje Petrovic—without breaching FIFA’s loan player limits.

Chelsea regards the highly talented young defender as a long-term investment, bolstering their squad depth and enhancing their focus on developing emerging talent. Sarr’s move to Stamford Bridge aligns with the club’s vision of cultivating promising players under their ownership structure.

In addition to Sarr, Chelsea have also lined up a deal for Kazakh teenager Dastan Satpaev. The 16-year-old striker impressed during a recent trial at Cobham Training Centre and is expected to join Chelsea’s academy from FC Kairat. Further emphasizing the club’s commitment to identifying and nurturing global talent.
