Sport Programme Affected by Freezing Weather Across UK

Freezing temperatures have caused significant disruption to this weekend’s sporting schedule in the UK, with several football and rugby fixtures postponed due to frozen pitches. The extreme cold temperatures have led to the cancellation of matches in the FA Cup, League One, League Two, the National League, and the Challenge Cup.

One of the major casualties is the all-League One FA Cup third-round tie between Mansfield Town and Wigan Athletic, which officials called off due to a frozen pitch at the One Call Stadium. The match will now take place on Tuesday, 14 January at 19:45 BST.

Other notable postponements include Shrewsbury Town’s League One clash with Huddersfield and Carlisle United’s home game against MK Dons in League Two. The UK has experienced its coldest night of the winter, with widespread frost and more freezing conditions expected to continue into the weekend.

Several fixtures in the National League and the Challenge Cup have also been affected, with some being rescheduled for the following weekend.
