Chelsea manager Emma Hayes has strongly criticized Manchester United fans for their negative reaction towards manager Marc Skinner, despite his recent success in guiding the club to FA Cup glory.
Skinner, who secured a one-year contract extension, has faced increasing scrutiny from United supporters due to the team’s underwhelming performance in the league. The discontent among fans has been evident at matches and online, with calls for Skinner’s dismissal becoming more vocal.
The culmination of this dissatisfaction was witnessed during the Women’s FA Cup final, where despite United’s emphatic 4-0 victory over Tottenham Hotspur, Skinner was subjected to booing from sections of the crowd.
Speaking ahead of her final match in charge of Chelsea, Hayes expressed her disappointment with the treatment Skinner received, emphasizing his achievement in delivering the club’s first major trophy since its reformation in 2018.
“I’m really happy for Marc,” Hayes stated. “He’s demonstrated his ability to learn and lead the team to success. Booing a manager who has brought silverware to the club is unjust. Managers deserve more respect.”
