Manchester City’s goalkeeper, Ederson, believes the return of Kevin De Bruyne could be the key to securing another Premier League title. After a five-month injury hiatus, De Bruyne has made a strong comeback, contributing a goal and three assists in three appearances. Ederson likened De Bruyne to a chess King, emphasizing his crucial role in the team and suggesting it could give City an advantage in the title race.
Speaking about De Bruyne’s return, Ederson said, “It’s just like chess – you have to protect the King! Now we have our ‘King’ back, one of the best at assists in Premier League history, third in the list now.”
Expressing his joy at having De Bruyne back, Ederson acknowledged the midfielder’s unique abilities, stating, “He’s a player that our team has missed a lot because he has such ability – he finds passes that very few players can find.” Ederson is optimistic that De Bruyne’s return to form will significantly contribute to City’s success for the remainder of the season.
As City aims for a historic fourth consecutive league title, Ederson emphasized the team’s ambition and mentality, stating, “We’re ambitious, with the mentality of wanting to win it all again.” Despite facing challenges earlier in the season, City has regained momentum, currently sitting in contention with Liverpool at the top of the table.
Regarding the title race, Ederson identified Liverpool, City, and Arsenal as the top contenders. He stated, “I think that the title race is between Liverpool, City, and Arsenal. I think they are the three favourites to win the Premier League.” While acknowledging other strong teams, including Tottenham and Aston Villa, Ederson believes these three will be the primary contenders for the coveted Premier League title.
Ederson expressed confidence in the team’s focus and unity, noting the dedication of players in both work and leisure. He concluded, “The team is focused, all of the players have their feet on the ground. They’re giving their all every day, preparing in the best way to be ready for the next match.” As City strives for an unprecedented achievement, Ederson remains optimistic about their chances in the ongoing season.
