Daniel Anjorin, Victim of Sword Attack, to Be Honored at Today’s Arsenal Match

Today’s Arsenal match against Bournemouth holds a somber significance as the club plans to honor the memory of Daniel Anjorin. A teenager tragically killed in a sword attack.

Daniel, a devoted fan of the North London club, lost his life in a horrific incident while on his way to school in Hainault, east London, earlier this week. The attack, which occurred in broad daylight, also resulted in injuries to four others. The news of Daniel’s untimely death has prompted an outpouring of tributes, with donations exceeding £118,502 in just two days.

Ahead of kick-off at the Emirates Stadium, Arsenal supporters are expected to observe a minute’s applause in the 14th minute to honor Daniel’s memory. The club has reached out to the family liaison officer to offer support during this difficult time.

In a statement, Arsenal expressed their condolences, stating. “We share in the shock and sadness of Daniel Anjorin’s death earlier this week. With his family’s blessing, we will make a tribute to Daniel shortly ahead of kick off tomorrow. We ask all supporters to pay their respects to Daniel with us in this moment.”

Marcus Arduini Monzo, 36, has been charged with multiple offenses including murder, attempted murder, grievous bodily harm. Aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article in connection with the incident.

Jaswant Narwal, Chief Crown Prosecutor for CPS London North, commented, “The Crown Prosecution Service has authorised the Metropolitan Police to charge Marcus Arduini Monzo with the murder of 14-year-old Daniel Anjorin, who was fatally stabbed in Hainault on Tuesday April 30. A further four people – including two police officers – were seriously injured. Our thoughts remain firmly with the family of the Daniel and all those who have been impacted by this horrific incident.”
