Chelsea Football Club has reached an agreement for a £56 million deal to sign Brazilian wonderkid Estevao Willian, potentially setting a new South American transfer record.

The ambitious Blues had representatives present during Wednesday’s match against Independiente del Valle to scout the 17-year-old attacker. Now, they are in the final stages of negotiations with Palmeiras to secure the highly-rated talent, with the transfer expected to complete in the summer of 2025, following Willian’s 18th birthday next April.

Initially, Palmeiras rebuffed a £49 million offer, including add-ons, from Chelsea. However, the London club has returned with an improved bid that meets the Brazilian club’s valuation. Potentially surpassing the fee received for Real Madrid-bound Endrick. Both parties have already agreed upon personal terms, signaling the imminent conclusion of the deal.

Despite interest from Barcelona and Bayern Munich, Chelsea has demonstrated a strong desire to secure Willian’s services. Outmatching their rivals in the transfer negotiations. While Premier League PSR rules may limit Chelsea’s future investments in young talents, this opportunity was too compelling to overlook.

In other news, Chelsea is assessing the futures of Brazilian prospects Angelo and Andrey Santos following their loan spells with sister club Strasbourg. The club has scheduled discussions for Manager Mauricio Pochettino with the sporting directors next week regarding the club’s plans for the 2024/25 season. Including potential loan extensions for players like Angelo and Santos.

Additionally, Omari Hutchinson is considering extending his stay with Ipswich Town after aiding them in securing promotion to the Premier League. However, European clubs are also expressing interest in Hutchinson following his impressive performances in the Championship.

Several players, including Romelu Lukaku, Kepa Arrizabalaga, Ian Maatsen. And Armando Borja, are expected to secure permanent transfers away from Chelsea following their loan spells. Furthermore, Hakim Ziyech is set to join Galatasaray permanently after spending the season on loan with the Turkish club. With the deal awaiting official confirmation in the upcoming summer transfer window.
