The highly anticipated clash between Fenerbahce and Galatasaray turned chaotic after the final whistle, with the son of Fenerbahce’s manager, Ismail Kartal, at the center of a massive brawl.
Fenerbahce secured a 1-0 victory over Galatasaray, courtesy of a goal from former Leicester star Caglar Soyuncu. Keeping their hopes of winning the Turkish Super Lig alive as they head into the final day of the season.
However, celebrations turned ugly as Fenerbahce players unfurled a club flag and posed for photos, only for stadium manager Ali Celikkıran to interrupt by attempting to grab the flag. Video footage circulating on social media shows Kartal’s son, Emre, allegedly throwing punches at Celikkıran before being pulled away. Reports suggest that Galatasaray officials, including general secretary Eray Yazgan, were also involved in the altercation.
Before the game, tensions escalated when Fenerbahce’s Mert Hakan provocatively displayed the club badge on his tracksuit. Leading to a confrontation with Galatasaray players and a brief shoving match.

The incident adds to the ongoing turmoil surrounding Fenerbahce, who previously considered withdrawing from the Turkish Super Lig following an attack on their players by Trabzonspor fans in March. Although the club ultimately voted against withdrawal, they protested against the Turkish Football Federation during April’s Turkish Super Cup final by fielding their under-19s and forfeiting the game.
Fenerbahce president Ali Koc addressed the significance of Sunday’s win over Galatasaray, stating. “It is a much bigger win than a derby win. We didn’t let them celebrate the championship on their own field, we broke their undefeated streak… It’s more than that. In fact, today we showed the dishonorable, thieves, and scoundrels who the real champion is.”
