Benni McCarthy, a coach at Manchester United, is pondering his future and aiming to transition into a managerial role, marking a potential departure from the club.
Recruited by Erik ten Hag almost two years ago, McCarthy, despite limited coaching experience, has been a valued member of the coaching staff. With Manchester United undergoing significant changes amid a challenging season, including the possibility of a managerial change, McCarthy is considering his next career move, likely away from Manchester.
Expressing his aspirations to YOU Magazine, McCarthy stated, “With the knowledge I’ve gained and everything I’ve contributed to the team – I want to take that and then eventually become a manager. Because once you’ve sat in the hot seat at a club and you’ve experienced the adrenaline of decision-making and leading, you want to experience that again one day.”
McCarthy’s influence behind the scenes has been notable, particularly in enhancing the performance of forward players like Marcus Rashford. The former Porto star, renowned for his prolific playing career, has dedicated efforts to refine Rashford’s skills, focusing on aspects such as timing runs, attacking space, and mastering different finishing techniques.
Rashford, benefiting from McCarthy’s guidance, acknowledged the coach’s impact, highlighting his assistance in areas like heading and attacking crosses. Despite Rashford’s recent struggles to replicate his past form and facing criticism for off-field incidents, he remains determined to contribute to Manchester United’s resurgence.
