Reports suggest that Bayern Munich is convinced Thomas Tuchel allowed contract negotiations to collapse because he already has plans to join Manchester United as Erik ten Hag’s replacement.
The confirmation of Tuchel’s departure from Bayern came in February following the club’s failure to secure the Bundesliga title. Despite talks of a new deal surfacing earlier this month, they ultimately failed to reach an agreement, leading to consideration of Vincent Kompany as his replacement.
In a recent press conference before Bayern’s final game of the season, Tuchel stated, “This is my last press conference…we didn’t reach an agreement, so the decision of February still stands.”
According to Bild, Bayern believes Tuchel intentionally let the talks fall through because he has secured the job at Manchester United. This speculation aligns with reports indicating that United will part ways with Ten Hag regardless of the FA Cup final outcome.
However, Ten Hag has stated that Sir Jim Ratcliffe, the club’s owner, desired his stay and involvement in rebuilding the team. Ten Hag revealed, “They said they want to change everything and that they want to rebuild WITH me. This is what they told me directly.”
He also mentioned plans for significant changes within the club, including rebuilding Carrington, signing new players, and aiming for a top-four finish in the upcoming season. Despite internal satisfaction with progress, Ten Hag acknowledged external criticisms but emphasized the club’s ambitions for the future.
