Bayern Munich president Herbert Hainer has confirmed ongoing discussions with Ralf Rangnick. Signaling a potential agreement to appoint him as Thomas Tuchel’s successor.
Rangnick, 65, currently leads the Austrian national team, having left Manchester United after a brief stint as interim manager. Despite his short tenure, Bayern sees him as a fitting replacement for Tuchel and has reportedly extended a contract offer until 2027.
“We are in good talks with Ralf, but we have to wait a few more days,” said Hainer. Following Bayern’s 2-2 draw against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-finals. “He is an excellent expert in the football scene. If it happens, he’s a very good choice.”
While Rangnick has not yet finalized the deal, he has engaged in productive discussions with Bayern’s leadership. However, his commitment to the Austrian national team remains until the conclusion of Euro 2024.

“I am completely focused on the European Championship,” Rangnick stated. “My decision won’t be influenced by financial factors; it’s about making a difference and achieving success.”
Despite Bayern’s interest in Rangnick, there’s some skepticism among the fan base, as evidenced by a petition to retain Tuchel, which garnered significant support. Tuchel, meanwhile, remains focused on football, emphasizing that external factors won’t sway his priorities.
As discussions progress, Bayern aims to solidify its coaching staff for the upcoming seasons, with Rangnick emerging as a prominent candidate to lead the club forward.
