While Arsenal’s first team enjoys a break from fixtures, the Gunners have been busy bolstering their youth ranks with the acquisition of promising defender Brayden Clarke.
Despite the senior team’s hiatus between their Champions League triumph over Porto and an upcoming Premier League clash with Manchester City, Arsenal has focused on securing future talent.
Welsh centre-back Clarke, just 16 years old until July, joins Arsenal from Wolves’ academy. Initially, he will feature for Arsenal’s under-18 squad, with the potential for swift progression to first-team consideration under manager .
Although Arsenal’s under-18s faced disappointment in recent FA Youth Cup campaigns, Clarke’s arrival adds depth to a squad competing at a high level in the Under-18 Premier League.

As a first-team scholar, Clarke will debut for Arsenal’s Under-18s in their fixture against Crystal Palace, bringing his experience from 10 appearances with Wolves’ Under-18 side this season.
Clarke’s international performances have garnered attention, notably representing Wales Under-17s at the Euros in 2023. His contributions during qualification, where Wales remained undefeated, showcased his potential on the global stage.
Despite Wales’ exit in the group stage, Clarke’s leadership qualities and defensive prowess were evident, prompting praise from Wolves academy boss Jon Hunter-Barrett.
With Clarke’s promising trajectory and continued eligibility for Wales Under-17s, Arsenal has secured a budding talent with the potential to make a significant impact in both domestic and international youth football.
