Yashasvi Jaiswal’s remarkable double century in Rajkot has garnered widespread acclaim, drawing comparisons to the legendary Virender Sehwag, among others.
During the third Test at the Niranjan Shah Stadium, Jaiswal’s unbeaten 214 propelled India to set a daunting target of 557 runs for England.
Former England captain Michael Vaughan took to social media to laud Jaiswal. Likening him to the explosive Sehwag and predicting success across all formats.
Vaughan tweeted, ‘India has a new @virendersehwag. @ybj_19 is a player who will destroy many attacks in all formats exactly like Viru used to do.’
Sehwag himself shared his thoughts on Jaiswal’s masterful display against spinners. Referencing his own humorous remarks about off-spinners in the past.
‘Back-to-back centuries for Yashasvi Jaiswal. Treating spinners the way they should be treated,’ Sehwag tweeted.
Rajkumar Sharma, former Delhi coach, also praised Jaiswal’s extraordinary talent and highlighted his crucial contribution to India’s dominance.
‘I congratulate Yashasvi Jaiswal and team India; he is an exceptional player,’ Rajkumar said.
Jaiswal’s outstanding form in the series has seen him accumulate 545 runs, including two double centuries and a half-century.
He joins an illustrious club, becoming only the third Indian batsman, after and Vinod Kambli, to achieve consecutive double hundreds in Test cricket.
Jaiswal’s stellar performance includes a memorable 209-run innings in Vizag, followed by an unbeaten 214 in Rajkot.
