Priyansh Arya has been making waves in the Delhi Premier League (DPL) 2024 with his aggressive batting style. On August 31, Arya, a left-handed opening batter from Delhi, matched Yuvraj Singh’s feat by hitting six sixes in an over. He played a spectacular innings, scoring 120 runs from just 50 balls, including ten boundaries and ten sixes, surpassing the 500-run mark for the season.
Arya, known for his occasional off-break bowling, began his cricketing journey with India A Under-19s during the 2019 Quadrangular Series. He debuted in domestic cricket with the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy for Delhi in November 2021. Although his first T20 innings yielded only 19 runs, Arya’s potential was evident.
He made his 50-overs debut for Delhi during the 2023 Vijay Hazare Trophy season, scoring 45 runs off 32 balls in his debut match. Arya’s recent performances in the DPL 2024 have been remarkable; in his first eight innings, he amassed 576 runs at an impressive average of 96 and a strike rate close to 200.
Arya’s standout performance on August 31 included a devastating over against North Delhi Strikers’ spinner Manan Bhardwaj. With the IPL mega auction approaching, Arya’s explosive batting will likely attract significant attention from franchises eager to secure his power-hitting skills for future seasons.
