Weather Update: RCB-CSK Match May Face Rain Threat Despite Sunny Morning in Bengaluru

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans received encouraging news as Bengaluru experienced sunny weather on Saturday morning. However, there’s a looming rain threat that could impact RCB’s crucial match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK), which will determine the final playoff spot in IPL 2024.

While central Bengaluru, home to the Chinnaswamy , enjoyed a rain-free morning with clear skies, the forecast for the evening remains uncertain. The Indian Meteorological Department predicts a 60% chance of rain around the match start time of 7:30 pm, with expectations of a “generally cloudy sky with one or two spells of rain or thundershowers.”

Despite a cloudy forecast on the eve of the match, rain and thunderstorms did not materialize, allowing both RCB and CSK to practice uninterrupted. The city has seen intermittent rainfall over the past few weeks after a period of unusually hot weather, but it has been relatively dry in recent days.

In the event of rain, the Chinnaswamy Stadium’s excellent drainage system, coupled with its subsurface aeration system, enables play to resume just 30 minutes after the rain stops.

For RCB, a washout would spell the end of their playoff aspirations. After a slow start to the season, they staged a remarkable comeback with five consecutive victories but still need a win against CSK to secure a playoff berth. Conversely, CSK only requires a win, a washout, or a narrow defeat to advance to the playoffs.

Regardless of the weather conditions, both teams are focused on the task at hand. RCB’s head of scouting, Malolan Rangarajan, emphasized the need for consistency, while CSK bowling coach Dwayne Bravo highlighted their determination to tackle the challenge ahead.

As the match approaches, the uncertainty surrounding the weather adds an extra layer of tension to this crucial encounter between RCB and CSK.
