In a display of fearless batting against the odds, Delhi Capitals’ skipper Rishabh Pant smashed a six off the world’s premier T20I bowler, Rashid Khan, during their match against the Gujarat Titans (GT) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
Coming in at No. 5 in a chase of a modest 90 runs, Pant proved his reputation as a big-hitter, much to the delight of his fans. Despite facing Rashid Khan, known for his deceptive bowling in the IPL 2024, Pant wasn’t fazed.
In the eighth over, with Pant on strike, Rashid Khan unleashed his deliveries. Unfazed by the challenge, the DC captain boldly stepped down the wicket and launched a powerful shot over long-off. While the timing wasn’t perfect, the ball managed to sail over the ropes for a maximum, leaving Rashid Khan visibly disappointed. The towering six measured a staggering 76 meters, showcasing Pant’s brute power.
This audacious six off Rashid Khan sent a strong message and highlighted Pant’s aggressive batting approach. Earlier in the match, Rashid Khan emerged as the top scorer for a struggling Gujarat Titans side, who were restricted to a mere 89 runs. The collective bowling effort by the Delhi Capitals attack deserves credit for dismantling the GT batting order.
In reply, the Delhi Capitals chased down the target effortlessly, requiring only 8.9 overs to complete the victory. This dominant performance not only secured them a win with six wickets remaining but also significantly boosted their crucial net run rate in the IPL 2024 season.
