Lizaad Williams finally got his taste of the big league, making his much-anticipated IPL debut in the 43rd match of IPL 2024 against the mighty Mumbai Indians. However, his first over wasn’t quite the fairytale start he might have envisioned.

Just as he was about to deliver his maiden ball, he suffered an awkward slip. Thankfully, the scare turned out to be minor, and after a quick adjustment to his shoe, he was back on track to unleash his bowling prowess.

Despite the early hiccup, Williams showcased his pace, consistently clocking deliveries in the late 140s. He even managed to threaten the dangerous Rohit Sharma with a sharp bouncer that forced a top edge off the bat. However, the fall seemed to impact his accuracy, leading to a string of extras – including five wides and a no-ball. As a result, he conceded a total of 14 runs in his opening over, leaving the Delhi Capitals hoping for a more controlled performance from him in the remaining overs against MI’s formidable batting line-up.

On the bright side, the first innings saw the Delhi Capitals post a commanding total of 257 runs on the board, thanks largely to the explosiveness of Jake Fraser-McGurk, who smashed a fiery 84 runs off just 27 balls on the flat deck of the Arun Jaitley Stadium.
