Vidarbha’s Remarkable Turnaround Puts Them on Brink of Victory Against Madhya Pradesh in Ranji Trophy Semi-Final

As the teams prepare for the final day, Vidarbha finds themselves only four wickets away from securing a spot in the final against Mumbai. Meanwhile, Madhya Pradesh, trailing by 93 runs with just their tailenders remaining, seeks a miraculous turnaround to keep their hopes alive.

The match dynamics shifted dramatically in favor of Vidarbha during the penultimate over of the day when Aditya Sarwate (2/51) dismissed Dubey, caught by Aman Mokhade. This pivotal breakthrough dealt a significant blow to Madhya Pradesh’s aspirations of reaching the final.

Facing a target of 321 runs for victory, Madhya Pradesh faced an uphill battle at 228/6 by stumps on day four. With only Saransh Jain (16 not out) and Kumar Kartikeya left to bat, the visitors face a daunting task to mount a substantial challenge.

Despite a valiant effort from Dubey, who exhibited resilience with his 94-run innings, Madhya Pradesh struggled as wickets fell at regular intervals. Dubey’s partnership with Harsh Gawali (67) provided a semblance of hope, but Vidarbha’s consistent breakthroughs kept them in control.

Vidarbha’s resurgence was spearheaded by Akshay Wakhare, who accounted for the dismissals of key middle-order batsmen Sagar Solanki, Shubham Sharma, and Venkatesh Iyer. Sarwate’s crucial late wicket to remove Dubey further bolstered Vidarbha’s position.

Earlier in the day, Vidarbha aimed to set a challenging target for Madhya Pradesh and managed to post 402 runs, thanks to Yash Rathod’s brilliant century. Rathod’s innings, supported by Aman Mokhade’s contribution, propelled Vidarbha to a competitive total after their first innings collapse.

With a lead of 82 runs in the first innings, Madhya Pradesh had responded with 252 runs. Anubhav Agarwal’s impressive bowling performance with figures of 5/92 was notable amidst Vidarbha’s resurgence.

As the match heads into its final day, both teams brace themselves for a gripping finish, with Vidarbha holding the upper hand as they aim to secure a spot in the Ranji Trophy final.
