Travis Head put on a dominant display against Sam Curran on Wednesday (September 11) during the first T20I between Australia and England at The Rose Bowl, Southampton. Head hammered 30 runs off Curran’s over, which included three huge sixes and three fours.

The carnage took place in the fifth over of Australia’s innings. Head started with two consecutive boundaries, one to mid-on and the other through extra cover. He then unleashed three back-to-back sixes, leaving Curran stunned. To close the over, Head drove another four over extra cover. This blistering performance saw him leap from 15 off 12 balls to a quickfire half-century in just 19 deliveries.

Despite Head’s powerful 59 off 26 balls, Australia struggled to maintain the momentum. His opening partner, Matthew Short, also contributed 41 from 26 balls, but the middle-order failed to capitalize. At the time of writing, Australia stands at 145/5 after 14.1 overs, with Cameron Green and Josh Inglis batting on 28* and 4* respectively. Key players like Mitchell Marsh, Marcus Stoinis, and Tim David were dismissed cheaply, none managing to reach double figures.
For England, Liam Livingstone was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 21 runs in three overs. Saqib Mahmood and Adil Rashid also chipped in with wickets.
