The ‘Real’ Reason Behind KL Rahul’s Absence from IND vs ENG 5th Test Revealed

Emerging reports suggest that KL Rahul, the seasoned Indian wicketkeeper-batsman, has traveled to England to address his ongoing injury concerns amid discussions of his return to the national team. According to the Times Of India, specialists in India were unable to accurately diagnose the severity of Rahul’s quadriceps injury, prompting him to seek treatment in the UK for a faster recovery.

The 'Real' Reason Behind KL Rahul's Absence from IND vs ENG 5th Test Revealed

After playing the first Test in Hyderabad, Rahul missed the subsequent three matches due to his injury. Despite the BCCI medical team not detecting significant damage to his quadriceps, Rahul has continued to experience discomfort in the affected area.

His availability for the upcoming final Test, scheduled to commence in Dharamsala on March 7, remains uncertain. Reports indicate that Rahul is likely to miss the concluding fixture, paving the way for an opportunity for Rajat Patidar, who has struggled to make an impact in the series with only 63 runs in six innings at an average of 10.50.

While Patidar’s performance has been below expectations, the Indian team management is unable to replace him in the squad due to Rahul’s injury concerns. However, the management may turn to Devdutt Padikkal, a prominent Karnataka batsman, for his Test debut in Dharamsala, considering his recent success in domestic cricket.

Meanwhile, it remains unclear whether Rahul will make his return to the national team or opt for a comeback during the forthcoming IPL 2024 season.
