Akash Deep’s journey epitomizes perseverance and passion in cricket. Born in Sasaram, Bihar, on December 15, 1996, he faced initial discouragement from his father Ramji Singh, a government schoolteacher, regarding a professional cricket career. Despite family pressures, Akash Deep pursued cricket with the support of his uncle.
Tragedy struck when his father and elder brother passed away, thrusting Akash Deep into the role of sole provider for his family. This pause in his cricketing aspirations lasted three years, but his dream of representing India remained steadfast.
With Bihar Cricket Association under suspension, Akash migrated to Bengal, where he earned a place in the Under-23 team and later debuted in the Ranji Trophy in December 2019, following his List A and T20 debuts.
On February 23, 2024, Akash Deep achieved his lifelong dream, donning the Test cap for Team India. Despite the pressure of his debut, he delivered a stellar performance, claiming three crucial wickets in his opening spell against England, showcasing his talent and determination.
