England’s young off-spinner, Shoaib Bashir, also achieved a significant milestone by claiming his maiden Test five-wicket haul, returning with figures of 5 for 119 in his second Test appearance.
Dhruv Jurel found a reliable partner in Kuldeep Yadav, who contributed a gritty 28 runs from 131 balls, forging a crucial 76-run partnership for the eighth wicket that significantly narrowed the deficit.
