Former Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Kamran Akmal has backed India to emerge victorious in the highly anticipated clash against Pakistan in the upcoming T20 World Cup.
The tournament, hosted by the USA and the West Indies, will begin on June 1. India and Pakistan will face off on June 9 at New York’s Nassau County Cricket Stadium, with a capacity crowd of 35,000 fans expected to witness the showdown.
During a Q&A session on Instagram, someone asked Akmal about his prediction for the star-studded match. He confidently replied, “Definitely India.”
Whenever India and Pakistan face each other on the cricket field, the match is imbued with a unique intensity, drawing passionate support from fans on both sides. This time, the atmosphere will be particularly charged, as India seeks to repeat its triumph from the previous edition of the tournament.
In their last encounter in 2022, Pakistan appeared to have the upper hand, needing 28 runs off just 8 deliveries to secure a win. However, Indian batting maestro Virat Kohli turned the tide with a stunning six off Haris Rauf, described by commentator Gerard Whateley as “a shot of an emperor.” Kohli followed it up with another six, paving the way for India to successfully chase down 160 runs.
