Semi-Final Match Details

The first semi-final of the T20 World Cup 2024, between South Africa and Afghanistan, is set for Wednesday, June 26, at 8:30 PM local time. It will take place at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba. The second semi-final, featuring India against England, will follow on Thursday, June 27, at 10:30 AM local time at Providence Stadium in Guyana. India’s match has been slated for 8:00 PM India time on June 27.

Playing Conditions

Each semi-final has distinct playing conditions. The second semi-final between India and England does not have a reserve day due to a one-day gap before the final. However, both matches have an additional 250 minutes available for play if needed. The first semi-final has 60 minutes extra at the end of the day’s play and 190 minutes on the reserve day, starting from 2:00 PM local time. The second semi-final can utilize the full 250 minutes on the scheduled day.

In the semi-finals and final matches, it is required that each team completes a minimum of 10 overs per innings. Unlike other matches where a minimum of 5 overs suffices, this rule mandates 10 overs per innings in crucial tournament stages. It aims to ensure more substantial gameplay and fair competition during decisive phases of the tournament. This rule becomes crucial due to the forecasted rain at both venues. If a match is abandoned due to weather, the team with a higher standing in their Super Eight group (India or South Africa) will advance. This rule ensures fairness and progression based on group-stage performance. If the final is abandoned due to weather conditions, the finalists will be declared joint winners.
