In the ongoing one-off Test match between India vs South Africa at Chepauk Stadium Chennai, Smriti Mandhana continued her outstanding form by smashing her second Test century.

On the first day of the match, Mandhana, opening alongside Shafali Verma, reached her century in 122 balls, hitting 20 fours along the way. Smriti Mandhana’s recent form has been stellar, marked by two consecutive centuries in ODIs against South Africa. In the third game, she fell short, dismissed in the 90s, narrowly missing another century. Her consistent batting has been a standout feature, showcasing her skill and determination in international cricket.
This century is particularly significant as it marks Mandhana’s first Test century against South Africa; her maiden Test hundred came against Australia. At the moment, India holds a strong position in the match, with Mandhana and Shafali’s unbeaten 216-run partnership for the first wicket setting a new record for India in women’s Test cricket. Shafali also achieved her maiden Test century during this partnership.
Additionally, Mandhana has now become the first Indian woman cricketer to score centuries in both Tests and ODIs, both at home and away. BCCI Women shared a video capturing her celebration of this milestone.
Despite this being only her seventh Test match, Mandhana boasts an impressive average of 59.10, featuring two centuries and three scores over fifty.
