While the exact details of Nitish Kumar’s injury remain undisclosed, there are speculations suggesting it could be related to a hernia, ruling him out of contention. Nitish Kumar had a standout season with SRH during IPL 2024, making crucial contributions including a notable innings of 64 runs off 37 balls against Punjab Kings, which played a key role in his team’s victory.

The BCCI had been closely monitoring Nitish Kumar as part of their long-term plans, but his injury has disrupted these plans.

Replacing him, Shivam Dube is currently part of Team India for the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Known for his all-round abilities, Dube has scored 106 runs in six innings at an impressive strike-rate of 107.07. His selection comes on the back of strong performances in recent IPL seasons with the Chennai Super Kings.

India’s upcoming tour of Zimbabwe will feature a series of 5 T20Is starting from July 6, with Shubman Gill leading the squad. India recently released Gill from their T20 World Cup squad for this tour.
