Shakib Al Hasan, who took a hiatus from cricket following the 2023 World Cup, actively engaged in the election campaign for his party. Despite the opposition from the Bangladesh National Party (BNP), which opted to boycott the general elections, the Awami League, led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, maintained its dominance by securing 200 out of the 300 parliamentary seats.
