Security Team from New Zealand Cricket Arrives in Pakistan for T20I Series Preparations

A security delegation from New Zealand Cricket (NZC), comprising two NZC members and an independent security expert, has arrived in Pakistan over the weekend to assess the preparations for the upcoming Kiwi team’s tour in April for a T20 series.

The delegation’s itinerary includes visits to Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Islamabad, where they will inspect the match venues and accommodations designated for the teams. Additionally, they will receive briefings from government and security authorities regarding the security arrangements for the visiting team.

Accompanying the delegation is the CEO of the New Zealand Players Association, indicating the significance of player safety and security in the assessment process.

The upcoming tour holds particular importance as it marks New Zealand’s return to Pakistan after their abrupt departure in September 2021 due to security concerns. Despite the possibility of key players being absent due to the coinciding Indian Premier League (IPL), scheduled to take place simultaneously, New Zealand plans to arrive on April 14, with the first T20I match set for April 18.
