In a surprising turn of events, former Pakistan captain Sarfaraz Ahmed has ended his nine-year association with Quetta Gladiators. The announcement came ahead of the PSL 10 draft, marking the end of his journey with the franchise he’s been a part of since the league’s inception in 2016.

Sarfaraz took to Instagram to share the news, posting a heartfelt message along with a picture alongside Quetta Gladiators’ owner, Nadeem Omar. He expressed gratitude for his time with the team, highlighting the memorable moments and experiences over the years.
“Today, I want to share that my time with Quetta Gladiators has come to an end. I feel proud of my 9-year journey with this amazing team, filled with wonderful and beautiful memories,” Sarfaraz wrote.
He thanked Nadeem Omar for placing trust in him as both a player and captain, acknowledging the unwavering support he received. Sarfaraz also extended his best wishes to the Gladiators’ management, giving a special mention to coach Azam Khan for his guidance throughout his tenure.
Sarfaraz’s Impact on Quetta Gladiators
Sarfaraz Ahmed has been the face of Quetta Gladiators since the PSL’s first season. He played 86 matches for the franchise, amassing 1,525 runs at an average of 29.32, with seven half-centuries. His leadership proved crucial in 2019 when he guided the Gladiators to their maiden PSL title — the team’s only championship to date.
Despite his consistent performances, Sarfaraz was replaced as captain by Rilee Rossouw during the last season. His departure marks the end of an era for Quetta Gladiators as they prepare for PSL 10 with new leadership and strategies.
