Sanju Samson is on the verge of surpassing MS Dhoni’s prestigious T20I batting record in the upcoming series against England. After a commanding 3-1 victory over South Africa, India is gearing up for a five-match T20I series against England, starting at Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

As India’s opening batter, Samson has a golden chance to break Dhoni’s record for the most sixes in T20Is. Known for his clean hitting, Samson has been a key figure for India since stepping up as the first-choice opener following Rohit Sharma’s retirement. The Kerala-born batter has scored three T20I centuries and, given his current form, is poised to play a pivotal role in the series.
Samson needs to hit just six more sixes in the upcoming series to surpass Dhoni’s tally of 52 sixes in T20Is. Currently, Samson has struck 46 sixes in 33 innings. If he hits seven sixes in the five-match series, he will overtake Dhoni on this elite list.
Samson is coming off a stellar performance in the South Africa T20I series, where he scored 216 runs at an average of 72 and a remarkable strike rate of 194.59. With this kind of form, he is set to pose a significant threat to England in the series. If he continues his impressive hitting, Samson could not only break Dhoni’s record but also strengthen his reputation as one of the most explosive players in T20 cricket.
