Former India legspinner Sairaj Bahutule has been named Rajasthan Royals’ spin-bowling coach for IPL 2025. He previously held the same role with the franchise from 2018 to 2021.

“Rejoining Rajasthan Royals is a tremendous honour,” Bahutule said. “The franchise’s commitment to nurturing talent and playing exciting cricket aligns with my coaching philosophy. I’m eager to work with Rahul [Dravid] and the coaching staff to strengthen our bowling attack and contribute to the team’s success.”
After his earlier stint with RR, Bahutule worked as the spin-bowling coach at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) and supported India A during several series. He also assisted VVS Laxman during India’s T20I tour of Ireland and served as India’s bowling coach when the team won gold at the 2023 Asian Games.
Bahutule had an impressive domestic career, claiming 633 first-class wickets along with 10 T20 scalps. He also represented India in two Tests and eight ODIs before transitioning into coaching.
Rajasthan Royals’ head coach Rahul Dravid welcomed Bahutule’s return. “Sairaj’s deep understanding of spin bowling and his extensive coaching experience make him an invaluable addition,” Dravid said. “His proven ability to mentor young bowlers fits perfectly with our vision. I’m confident his guidance will significantly benefit the team in IPL 2025.”
The Royals have made notable changes to their coaching setup ahead of IPL 2025. Dravid replaced Kumar Sangakkara as head coach, while Vikram Rathour joined as the new batting coach. With these changes, RR aims to build a well-rounded team for the upcoming season.
