
Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar is savoring his first ever trip to Kashmir, where he enthusiastically participated in gully cricket matches with locals in the scenic surroundings of Gulmarg. The iconic batsman also visited the Aman Setu bridge, the last frontier on the Line of Control in the Uri sector of Jammu and Kashmir, engaging in conversations with soldiers stationed at the Kaman Post.
During his visit, Tendulkar explored a local bat factory, reflecting on his first Kashmir willow bat, a cherished gift from his sister. His visit to the MJ Sports Bat Factory showcased the rich cricketing heritage of Kashmir and the enduring appeal of traditional cricket equipment. Tendulkar shared his experience on social media, expressing the significance of encountering Kashmir willow and noting the unique grain patterns on his favorite bats.
“At our gate, a vehicle stopped while we were busy making bats. The Little Master and his family pleasantly surprised us,” shared Mohammad Shaheen Parray, owner of MJ Sports. Tendulkar, pleased with the bat quality, expressed interest in supporting Kashmir willow bats and promised to lend his voice in their favor.
In a Heartening gesture, fellow passengers on Tendulkar’s journey to Kashmir showered him with admiration, chanting “Sachin, Sachin!” in a display of affection for the cricket icon. The trip has not only allowed Tendulkar to relish the breathtaking landscapes of Kashmir but also provided him with opportunities to connect with the local cricketing culture and promote indigenous cricketing craftsmanship.
