The firebrand opener of Mumbai Indians (MI), Rohit Sharma, showcased his six-hitting prowess in their match number 25 clash against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in the ongoing IPL 2024 season. Sharma unleashed a flurry of boundaries within the powerplay, sending deliveries from Mohammed Siraj and Akash Deep sailing over the ropes.
A Barrage of Sixes and a Wankhede Milestone

Adding to his six-hitting spree, Rohit Sharma also dispatched Vijaykumar Vyshak over deep midwicket for his third maximum, propelling himself to a rapid 34 off 22 balls* at the halfway mark of the MI innings. This dazzling display wasn’t just about power hitting; it also saw Rohit Sharma achieve a significant batting milestone at the iconic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
During this encounter against RCB on April 11th, Rohit Sharma marked his 100th six in T20 cricket at this very venue. His milestone six came off Mohammed Siraj’s delivery in the fifth over of the MI innings.
Extending His Dominance in T20 Cricket
With this feat, Rohit Sharma extended his overall tally of sixes in T20 cricket to a staggering 497, edging closer to the coveted mark of 500 sixes in the shortest format of the game. Currently, he stands as the leading six-hitter in international cricket, having amassed a record-breaking 597 maximums, surpassing the likes of West Indies’ powerhouse Chris Gayle last year.
A Brief Innings But a Lasting Impact
However, Sharma’s innings was cut short when he was dismissed by RCB’s Will Jacks after a brisk 24-ball 38. At the time of his departure, MI needed another 58 runs from the remaining 52 deliveries to secure victory. Despite his dismissal, Rohit Sharma’s power-hitting display undoubtedly provided a strong foundation for MI’s chase against RCB.
