As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 approaches, Mumbai Indians (MI) face concerns over the availability of star player Suryakumar Yadav. Currently undergoing rehabilitation at the National Cricket Academy (NCA) after ankle and sports hernia surgeries, Yadav’s participation in the initial away matches for MI remains uncertain.

Although Suryakumar Yadav is progressing well in his recovery, clearance for the first two matches against Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad is pending approval from the NCA’s Sports Science and Medical Team. With just 12 days left before MI’s opening fixture, there’s a race against time for Yadav to regain full fitness.
Having been a pivotal figure for MI since 2018, Suryakumar Yadav absence could pose a challenge for the team as they kick off their IPL 2024 campaign under new captain Hardik Pandya. Pandya, himself returning from injury, will need to navigate Yadav’s potential absence in the away games before MI’s first home match on April 1.
