Recent reports indicate that the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024 might move from Bangladesh to the UAE due to ongoing violence and unrest. The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has reportedly agreed to this shift but will remain the official host, much like the 2022 Asia Cup, which relocated to the UAE due to turmoil in Sri Lanka.

Bangladesh has experienced significant political unrest in recent months, with protests escalating and former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina fleeing to India. This instability has prompted the International Cricket Council (ICC) to closely monitor the situation.
In related news, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently declined an offer to host the Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed that India rejected the Bangladesh Cricket Board’s request to host the tournament.
As it stands, the tournament’s relocation to the UAE would ensure a stable environment for the event, allowing it to proceed without disruptions caused by the ongoing situation in Bangladesh.
